From stale PDFs to a living number

Built for marketing managers, growth leads, and agency planners. Here is how CAC Index will work at launch:

Pick your industry

Choose your industry and channels. See median CAC, quartiles, and 12-month trends for paid search, paid social, and more, drawn from real advertiser data.

Compare your CAC

Enter your own CAC to see exactly where you sit against the industry: ahead of the pack or overpaying. The chart does the arguing for you.

Contribute anonymized data

Share channel, spend, new customers, and period. Aggregation only: your company is never identified, and contributors earn a free month per quarter shared.

Get the monthly digest

Every month: how your industry's CAC moved, which channels got cheaper or pricier, and how you compare. Budget season stops being a guessing game.

Why planners switch from the free benchmarks

The incumbents are thin free benchmarks and stale PDFs. CAC Index is the living dataset.

Contributed data

Real numbers, not surveys

Benchmarks built from actual advertiser spend and results, contributed monthly. Every contribution makes every number sharper.

Channel x industry

The matrix, not a headline

Median, quartiles, and trends per channel per industry. One headline number is trivia; the matrix is a planning tool.

Monthly refresh

Fresh, not fossilized

Ad costs move fast. Benchmarks refresh monthly so last quarter's number does not sink this quarter's budget.

Anonymization

Aggregates only

Contributions are pooled and anonymized before they touch a benchmark. No advertiser is ever identified or traceable.

Budget defense

Numbers a CFO respects

"Our CAC is 20% below the industry median" ends the budget argument. The digest arrives monthly, ready to forward.

Neutral

No agency to sell you

Free benchmarks are lead-gen for someone's agency. CAC Index sells the data, not services, so the numbers have no agenda.

Priced against one budget meeting

One defended budget line pays for a decade. Pick the plan that fits how you plan.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

From advertisers who contribute anonymized spend and results: channel, spend, new customers, period. Contributions are pooled and aggregated before they appear in any benchmark, and no contributor is ever identified.

How is this different from WordStream's free benchmarks?

Theirs are thin, updated rarely, and ultimately lead generation for their agency business. Ours are a channel-by-industry matrix refreshed monthly from contributed data, with no services to sell you.

Do I have to contribute data to use it?

No. Subscribers see the full benchmarks. Contributors get a free month for each quarter of data shared, and full detail on the thinnest slices unlocks first for contributors.

What if my industry has thin data?

Thin slices are labeled as provisional with contributor counts, so you always know how much weight to give a number. As contributions grow, provisional slices graduate to full benchmarks.

Can agencies use this for clients?

Yes. Agencies use the benchmarks to set client expectations and defend media plans. Contributor analytics on the Unlimited plan are built for exactly this.
